Obtaining Copies of Birth Certificates

The Township Clerk's Office (Office of Vital Statistics) can provide official copies of birth certificates for births which occurred in Weehawken.

In order to obtain a copy of a certificate, you will need to identify the document by the following information:

  • The name of the person whose certificate you are requesting
  • The name of the father
  • The maiden name of the mother
  • The date of birth

I.D. is necessary. Acceptable Forms of Identification is as follows:

  • A valid photo driver's license or photo non-driver's license
  • A photo ID and an alternate form of ID with address
  • Two alternate forms of ID with address

Alternate Forms of I.D.:

  • Non-Photo driver's license
  • Vehicle registration
  • Insurance card
  • Voter registration
  • Passport
  • Green card
  • County ID
  • School ID
  • Utility bill

You can bring this information to Town Hall or send it to us by mail. If you mail the information, you must include a self addressed, stamped envelope with your request.

There is a fee of ten dollars ($10.00) US Postal Money Order Only for each Certified Sealed certificate requested.

If you come to the Clerk's office in Town Hall, you may pay the fee in cash (exact change is requested) or by a US Postal Money Order made out to VITAL STATISTICS.

Mailed requests must include a USPS Money Order. No other forms of payment are accepted.
